Lead Meaningful Change for Adults with Neurodevelopmental Needs Across BSW
Join our Learning Disability, Autism and Neurodiversity division and play a central role in shaping a high‑quality, needs‑led service for adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and ADHD across Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW). This is your opportunity to make a real, lasting difference to service users at every stage of their neurodevelopmental journey—both pre‑ and post‑diagnosis.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Non‑Medical Prescriber within the BSW Neurodevelopmental Pathway team, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering specialist assessment, prescribing, and therapeutic support to adults with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as their families. You’ll take a leadership role within the ADHD assessment and post‑diagnostic pathway, including medicines management, ensuring safe, person‑centred and evidence‑based care.
You’ll also contribute to the development of a single, needs‑led neurodevelopmental pathway across the BSW region—working collaboratively with HCRG Care Group and BSW ICB LDAN partners to redesign and improve services for the future.
In this role, you will:
- Provide expert clinical input, assessment and prescribing in line with NICE guidance and professional frameworks.
- Act as Clinical Lead (under Consultant guidance) for the ADHD service.
- Support operational management for the ADHD pathway.
- Play an active role in multidisciplinary triage and facilitate coordinated liaison with internal and external services.
- Champion staff development in line with HCRG Care Group standards and NMC/HCPC requirements.
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled clinician to take the lead in transforming neurodevelopmental care across the region—driving innovation, quality and better outcomes for adults with complex needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Working closely with the neurodevelopmental pathway team to develop, deliver and monitor needs‑led assessment and care for adults and their families.
- Acting as a key member of the ADHD multidisciplinary team, collaborating with clinicians across a range of disciplines.
- Leading preliminary assessments for new referrals across the BSW locality, using agreed tools and gathering information through observation, interviews and structured assessments.
- Prescribing ADHD‑related medication as an Advanced Nurse Prescriber, following NMC, NICE and national guidelines.
- Using a Think Family and trauma‑informed approach throughout all clinical work.
- Completing comprehensive assessments based on multiple information sources, including psychological measures, rating scales, direct/indirect observations and patient/family interviews.
- Working in line with the NMC Code of Conduct, professional standards and Trust policies.
- Prescribing safely under a Clinical Management Plan, while maintaining up‑to‑date pharmaceutical knowledge and auditing your prescribing practice.
- Developing and delivering evidence‑based treatment plans, including medication and non‑pharmacological interventions.
- Making autonomous clinical decisions for the long‑term management of adults with ADHD and supporting their families.
- Providing clear communication, support and signposting through face‑to‑face appointments, virtual clinics and between‑appointment advice.
- Using advanced communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex or sensitive information, advocating for service users where needed.
- Managing an unpredictable caseload and offering expert advice outside of scheduled appointments.
