Job Introduction
This is a MSK Physiotherapy Team Lead/Trainee team lead role at Warminster community hospital. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day to day running of the local physiotherapy department. They will need to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills to allow them to integrate their non-clinical work into busy clinical schedule.
This would be an ideal role for those with a keen interest in MSK Physiotherapy who are looking to develop their leadership/management skills in a supportive environment.
We are looking for a friendly, professional and self-motivated physiotherapist to join our flourishing musculoskeletal physiotherapy service. You must be able to demonstrate excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills that these posts will require, within a variety of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and general health conditions. Good communication skills with a variety of people, conditions and within demanding situations will be an asset. You will join a friendly team with other physiotherapy staff and APP clinicians. There are excellent training opportunities within APP-led Orthopaedic clinics and MSK pathway projects that are currently ongoing in these departments.
The successful candidate will possess a friendly, professional attitude to supplement their good MSK knowledge. We are looking for keen, interested persons who are ready to learn and develop both as people and responsible clinicians. As a senior physiotherapist you would be given responsibilities and training that reflect your current level of practice and then encouraged to manage a larger, more complex caseload as your skills are tested and improve over time.
The role would be joining a purely musculoskeletal and orthopaedic service where you would have an excellent training and CPD program, regular mentoring from senior clinicians. In addition, there is currently no on call rota or weekend working.
The MSK service for Wiltshire is based across 11 community sites and additional GP clinics with excellent links to our acute hospitals in Bath, Salisbury, and Swindon. We receive MSK referrals from patient Self-referral, GPs, Orthopaedics, A&E, Rheumatology, Midwives and other Health Care Professionals. Alongside MSK Physiotherapy we deliver services in Hand Therapy, Women’s and Men’s Health and Amputees.

Main Responsibilities
As a Physiotherapist (Musculoskeletal – MSK) – Band 6 you will work as an integral part of the Warminster Outpatient Physiotherapy Team, to provide team leadership and specialist assessment and treatment of patients with MSK conditions. To independently manage a caseload by delivering a range of treatments in line with best practice guidelines. Participating in and coordinating the supervision and training of team members and continually evaluating and improving the service.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- HCPC Registered
- BSc or equivalent in Physiotherapy
- MSK work based training
- Evidence of on-going CPD / Reflective Practice in-line with job role
- Band 5 Level Rotations
- Experience of NHS working
- Experience in treating own caseload of MSK Patients
- Participation in delivering training / mentorship / supervision
- Delivering class based treatment
- Clinical and/or operational audits
- Supervision of Students / Juniors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to keep legible and accurate records
- Ability to communicate with individuals with communication difficulties and patients requiring a translator
- Excellent organisational skills including time management, appropriate delegation, integration of non-clinical work into busy clinical schedule
- Ability to manage a varied and sometimes unpredictable caseload
- Ability to make clinically reasoned judgements and diagnosis on a variety of MSK conditions
- Ability to work as a sole practitioner and seek appropriate advice / guidance when required
- Ability to appropriately manage / onward refer patients with non-musculoskeletal presentations
- Well-developed assessment and treatment skills including manual therapy, exercise prescription, directing a class
- Presentation and teaching skills which can be utilised for In-Service Training / External Training
- IT Skills including the use of Outlook, Patient Administration Systems, Imaging Viewers, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and video consulting.
- Ability to work integrally within a team, including taking direction and leading team activities where appropriate.

- Ability to treat highly complex patient presentations autonomously
- Knowledge of Human Resources / Policy / Procedure associated with people management
Other requirements:
- Willing to work in other areas of the Trust or Trust-wide as and when required to do so.
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
- Ability to attend service and departmental meetings held at various locations.
- Car driver with access to vehicle and appropriately insured
